Before you enrol

Is this binge eating course right for me?

A course that suits everybody suits nobody. Here is a straight answer about who this one is for, and when something else would serve you better.

This is likely to help if

  • You are an adult who binges or eats in a way that feels out of control.
  • Dieting and restriction have been part of the picture for a long time.
  • Shame after eating keeps the cycle turning.
  • You can give it about an hour a week, and are willing to write things down.
  • You want a structured, evidence-based approach rather than another set of food rules.

Please speak to your GP first if

  • You are making yourself sick, using laxatives, or over-exercising to compensate.
  • You are restricting severely or losing weight rapidly.
  • You have diabetes, are pregnant, or have another condition affected by eating.
  • You are under 18.
  • You are having thoughts of harming yourself.

This course can sit alongside professional care, but it should not replace it. Beat: 0808 801 0677. Samaritans: 116 123.

What it isn't

Three honest limits

It is not a weight-loss programme. The aim is to stop the cycle and steady your eating, not to shrink you.

It is not therapy. It is an educational programme designed by a Chartered Clinical Psychologist. No therapeutic relationship is formed.

It is not passive. Watching changes little; the worksheets are where the change happens.

This course is an educational programme and does not replace medical or psychological care. If you are struggling, support is available: your GP · Beat, the UK's eating disorder charity — 0808 801 0677 · Samaritans — 116 123.
